After hearing about others' blogs for a while, I've finally decided to try it myself (just one more thing for me to not keep up with...)
We are enjoying our relaxing summer. Well, now it is relaxing...we started with camp (Kindergarten camp for Olivia and Camp Junebug at church for Joyner), followed immediately by a two-week trip to see family, followed immediately by VBS (where I volunteered with preschool games). Now we are chilling, going to the Y and the pool and just hanging out.
Olivia is really coming along in her swimming skills; she jumps off the diving board and swims to the side and she can dive in the 3-ft to get toys off the bottom. She loves to swim, and after Jody noticed that her feet are quite like the long flipper-like feet of Olympic swimmer Michael Phelps, we decided we need to start training her for her glory days of swimming (and perhaps a college scholarship?) She also just got glasses...she has astigmatism and amblyopia ("lazy eye"), but it is in both eyes, so we never noticed - she does not have a depth-perception problem, a wandering eye, or trouble recognizing letters, which are typical symptoms. But she loves her pink glasses and hopefully they will not be too much trouble as she heads to kindergarten.
Joyner is...Joyner! She also loves the pool, as long as she doesn't go under (although she's getting better about it). She is a ton of fun and a thunder ball of emotions! Speaking of thunder, she does not like "funder" or "lightming", which is why both girls are currently sleeping in our bed - they did not want to be alone in their rooms during the t'storm tonight. Joyner is excited about going to preschool in the Fall, even though she doesn't quite understand that she will not be riding the bus! She loves chasing butterflies and collecting rocks.
Jody is working hard and training hard (triathlon season). He has done a few races, and placed in his age group in one!
I am just trudging along, trying to remember that while the days are long, the years are short and I need to enjoy every moment with these adorable girls!
I could write for hours (like I can talk for hours...) but I will stop here and try to maintain this on a (semi) regular basis!
